Art Progress Post
Hello again!
Right now, I'm going to take the time to show you a picture I've done. I worked on this for 5 hours, w/ little breaks, and no sleep. Because, you see, if I stop working on something I never finish it.
As you may or may not know, I've been working on a comic for a while. I had to take a break from it because my computer's hard drive died. Now that I have a 1 terabyte hard drive ready to be installed into my computer, and a Windows 7 disc waiting for me, I can get back to work on my beloved comic.
Since I am going to be working on the comic again, I felt it was necessary to draw a promo for such an event. And so I began sketching, and planning out the piece. I started to do lineart shortly after. For all of this, I'm using SAI Painter, and the pen tool.
Now that my lineart is done, I add some more details, such as the pinstripes on Pokey's suit. I also make sure that all of my lines are straight. I tend to be a little OCD and redo a lot of lines most the time as I work on it.
I had a friend of mine put a border around the image to give it a more symmetrical look. Then I added some text in Paint ( lol ). Not too much progress here, just minor edits.
Unfortunately, I kind of flew through the coloring. I also smoothed out the lines, and made them more vector-like in Inkscape. All I do to color is I bring it back into SAI and use the pen tool again. For the shading, I added another layer, and used the pen tool again, but smoothed it out with the watercolor tool. After that, all I do is lower the opacity to where I want it ( depends on the picture almost every time ). For the Mother logo, I used the pen tool for the blood, and the marker tool for the glow. This was on another layer on top of the lineart. It's really good to mess with hues and brightness, which is what I did with the blood and marionette strings, you never know whether changing it a little will make a huge difference.
Well, that's all I've got this time. I'll go back to the Pokemon Adventure later today or tomorrow.
